7 Republicans Qualify for First GOP Presidential Debate in Milwaukee

Seven Republican candidates have qualified for the first GOP presidential debate of 2024, which will be held on August 23 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The candidates who have met the polling and fundraising thresholds are:

  • Tim Scott, U.S. Senator from South Carolina

Former President Donald Trump has also met the requirements, but it is unclear if he will participate in the debate.

The debate is the first of six scheduled for the 2024 Republican presidential primary. The next debate will be held on September 12 in Las Vegas.

The qualifying thresholds for the debate were set by the Republican National Committee (RNC). The polling threshold was 2% in three national polls conducted by recognized organizations. The fundraising threshold was $1 million from individual donors.
