The new charges stem from allegations that the defendants attempted to delete surveillance video footage at Mar-a-Lago in the summer of 2022. The footage allegedly showed Trump and Graff removing classified documents from the property.

The superseding indictment also includes a new allegation that Trump lied to investigators about his knowledge of the classified documents.

The charges against Trump, Graff, and De Oliveira are still pending. If convicted, they could face up to five years in prison.

The classified documents that were allegedly stored at Mar-a-Lago included intelligence reports, presidential daily briefings, and other sensitive materials. The surveillance footage that was allegedly deleted showed Trump and Graff removing classified documents from a desk in Trump's private residence at Mar-a-Lago.

The superseding indictment also includes a new allegation that Trump told De Oliveira to delete the surveillance footage. Trump has denied all of the allegations against him.

The case is still pending, so it is not yet clear what the outcome will be. However, the charges against Trump, Graff, and De Oliveira are serious, and they could face significant prison time if they are convicted.

The US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York is prosecuting the case. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for August 2023.

This case is the latest in a series of legal challenges facing Trump. In recent months, he has also been sued by the New York Attorney General's Office for allegedly misleading investors in his real estate business. Trump has denied all of the allegations against him in these cases as well.

It remains to be seen how these legal challenges will ultimately play out. However, they have certainly cast a shadow over Trump's post-presidential life.

Here are some additional details about the defendants:

  • Donald Trump is the former president of the United States.
  • Rhona Graff is a former aide to Trump.
  • Carlos De Oliveira is the head of maintenance at Mar-a-Lago.
